Technical Seminar on “Zoonotic Diseases, Human Health and Farm Animal Welfare during Disaster” was organized by College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, JAU, Junagadh on 11th February, 2014.
A technical seminar was organized by the College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry (COVS & AH), JAU sponsored by Department of Animal Husbandry, Gujarat under the ASCAD scheme. The seminar was held at the Conference Hall of the College. All the dignitaries were welcomed by Dr. P.H. Tank, Principal & Dean, Veterinary College. The seminar was inaugurated by Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Dr. N. C. Patel. Dr. V. M. Mehta, former Vice chancellor, GAU delivered the key note address. Dr. C.J. Dangaria, Director of Research was the Guest of Honour. A souvenir and CD containing lectures of ASCAD sponsored training programmes organized by the College were released on the occasion. The technical session was conducted in two parts. Dr. S. Ghosh, Principal Scientist, IVRI, Dr. J. B. Nayak, Assoc. Prof., AAU and Shri S. P. Tiwari, GSDM presented lectures on different topics of interest. The session was chaired by Dr. V. M. Mehta whereas the second technical session was chaired by Dr. M. C. Prasad. Dr. M. G. Maradia, Retd. Zoo Suptd., Dr. P. R. Patel, JD (A.H.) and Dr. K. Ravikala, Prof., JAU delivered lectures on animal management in disaster situations. Around 300 delegates including veterinarians from different organizations like Department of Animal Husbandry, SAUs, Co-operative dairies and private sector of Gujarat attended the event.
