Freshwater prawn is highly priced commodity having big potential for export. A trial of culture of Freshwater Prawn Macrobrachium rosenbergii (Scampi) is being carried out at Inland Fisheries Research Station, JAU, Junagadh. Total 30,000 seeds (Length 17 mm weight 0.700 g) of prawn were stocked on 26th February, 2012 in fish pond of 0.3 ha. After 133 days of culture the remarkable growth was observed,  male prawn ranging from 87 - 99 gms while female berried prawn with 62 - 67 gms. Hon'ble Vice Chancellor Dr. N.C. Patel along with Dr. C.J. Dangaria, Director of Research and Dr. A.Y. Desai. Dean, College of Fisheries, Veraval visited the farm on 11th July, 2012 and appreciated the excellent growth of freshwater prawn.
