The 25th “WORLD WATER DAY” with theme “Nature for Water” was organized by AICRP on Irrigation Water Management, Soil and Water Conservation Engineering Department, College of Agril. Engg. and Tech., JAU, Junagadh on March 22, 2018.

The 25th World Water Day was organized on the theme of  Nature for Water.  Dr. V P Chovatia, Director of Research, JAU, Junagadh was the chief guest of the progamme.  Dr. N K Gontia, Principal & Dean, CAET, JAU,  Junagadh  presided over the programme.  Total 125 UG/PG students along with CAET faculties have actively participated the world water day.
At the first outset, Dr. H D Rank, Chief Scientist, AICRP on Irrigation Water Management, SWCE, CAET, JAU, Junagadh welcomed the dignitaries on dais, faculties, judge panels, participants and students.   He gave the details on the themes, hosting organizations of UNO and awareness activities done all over the world during last 24 world water days.  The schedules and activities of the said progamme was outlined by him.
Dr. N K Gontia, has pointed out the various ways to conserve the limited water in domestic, agriculture and other public places. He also briefed on the status of water resources of India, Gujarat and Saurashtra region in context to other parts of the world. He expressed worries for the deceasing water resources for the irrigation sector. He also emphasized the adoption of the groundwater recharge technologies in Gujarat.  
Dr. V P Chovatia, Director of Research and Dean, PG studies, JAU, Junagadh described the importance of the water for the agriculture sector.   He emphasized the efficient water utilization in the irrigation sector.  The outcomes of the AICRP on Irrigation Water Management should reach to its end users for the more crop per drop of water. The peoples should understand the judicious utilizations of the water in very sphere of the walks of life.
Total 8 groups of the PG students participated in the Poster presentation and 4 students in water speech competitions.   The first 3 ranks in each competitions have been awarded by prizes.
The vote of thanks was expressed by Prof. P B Vekariya, Assistant Professor, AICRP on Irrigation Water Management, SWCE, CAET, JAU, Junagadh.
