Training Programme for Coconut Growers of Gir Somnath district was organized at Agricultural Research Station (Fruit Crops), JAU, Mahuva on September 21-23, 2016.
Progressive coconut growers 35 farmers’ of Gir Somnath district participated in three days training during 21, 22 and 23rd, September, 2016 held at Agricultural Research Station (Fruit Crops), JAU, Mahuva.
The training was organized by ATMA Project, Gir Somnath. In this training programme Dr. P. K. Kapadiya, Research Scientist (Hort) provided scientific information on Hybrid Seed Production and Insect & Disease Management in coconut; Dr. G. S. Vala, Asso. Research Scientist (Agronomy) provided information on Organic Farming and Mixed Farming in coconut; Prof. V. C. Dodiya, Asst. Research Scientist (Soil Sci.) provided information on Problematic Soils of Coastal Area and their Management; Dr. R. Y. Khopde, Horticulture Executive (Pidilite Ind. Ltd.) provided information on Irrigation and Nutrition Management in coconut; and Mr. H. C. Bhasotiya, Horticulture Officer (Pidilite Ind. Ltd.) provided information on Coconut Nursery Management.
Besides this, practical session was arranged for the farmers to teach hybridization technique for production of DXT (Mahuva); and arranged visit of coconut nursery, Elite farm & mother plot.
The training was successfully co-ordinated and handled by Dr. G. S. Vala and Prof. V. C. Dodiya under the guidance of Dr. P. K. Kapadiya.
From ATMA Project, Gir Somnath Mr. N. B. Goswami, Block Technology Manager, Ta. Veraval have been co-ordinated the training programme.
