Food Testing Laboratory, Department of Biotechnology, Junagadh Agricultural University created a Historic breakthrough on June, 12th, 2016 by analysis and reporting of 1000 Soil Samples of Farmers of District Jamnagar within 4 hours 25 Minutes and 40 second by 20 Ladies Staff. This marathon work was carried out under the inspiration of Hon'ble Vice Chancellor Dr. A.R. Pathak and guidance of Dr. B.A. Golakia, Professor & Head, Dept. of Biotechnology. Inauguration of this unique task was made by Dr. A.R. Pathak Hon'ble Vice Chancellor.
Thereafter a Press Conference was arranged under the Chairmanship of Dr. A.R. Pathak Hon'ble Vice Chancellor in the presence of Dr. V.P. Chovatiya, Director of Research, Dr. P.V. Patel, Director, Students' Welfare, Dr. A.V. Barad, Dean, College of Agriculture, Dr. B.A. Golakia, Professor  & Head, Dept. of Biotechnology and Shri Ashvinbhai Patel of Department of Information. Dr. P.V. Patel, Director, Students' Welfare gave a brief details of entire event in his welcome address. Dr. A.R. Pathak, Hon'ble Vice Chancellor in his Presidential address gave the information about the objectives and importance of Soil testing  to make agriculture cost effective and eco-friendly. There are about 80 Soil testing laboratories functioning in Gujarat and on an average 50 to 100 soil samples are being analyzed by a laboratory in a day. But for the first time 1000 Soil Samples will be analyzed in a day with accuracy with report of analysis. This task carried out under the direct supervision of a panel of judging committee consisting four senior experts. He also informed It is necessary to analyze Soil of the farmers to know the status of nutrients present in the soil, so that, only required quantity of fertilizers can be applied in the soil, this way farmers can get better production of their crop by applying only required quantity of fertilizers and can save not only money but also the  health of  soil.
