The 1-Day training program for the Tribal farmers was organised by AICRP on Groundwater Utilization, JAU, Junagadh Center under TSP as a part of celebration of "KRUSHI VIKAS VARSH: 2014-15"

One day farmers training program was organized on the subject of  BHUGARBH JAL SANCHAY ANE PANINO KARYAKSAM UPAYOG”  (Groundwater recharge /conservation and efficient use of  water). under TSP program on 25.9.2014 at Jambur village.

Dr. H.D.Rank Research Engineer AICRP-GWU, welcomed all the dignitaries/ guests, participants and invitees. He also briefed about the activities and overviews of  TSP project under AICRP on Groundwater Utilizations. Dr. N K Gontia, Principal & Dean, CAET, JAU, Junagadh, highlighted the present and future water scenario and its importance of the water.  Dr. R. Subaiah. Professor and Head Deptt. of soil and water Enng. warned the farmers for the shortage of water for the agriculture in the future.Dr P.M. Chauhan, Prof. & Head, Dept. of Renewable Energy and Dr. D.M. Vyas, Professor and Head, Agriculture Processing Engineering also remained the present. One special session were kept for the farmers using the given sprinkler sets. The inaugural session was ended with vote of thanks by Prof. P. G. Vadher,

 

Total 150 tribal farmers from different villages of Talala/Veravaltalukas of GirSomnath districthave participated the training program.Dr. H D Rank, Research Engineer, AICRP-GWU, Dr. P D Kumawat, Research Scientist, JAU, Kodinar, Prof. P G Vadher,AICRP-GWU,Prof.  P B Vekariya,AICRP-GWU, Prof. R J Patel, SWE Deptt, Prof. D S Thanki, RERE Deptt., and Dr. P J Rathod, AICRP-PHT delivered the lectures to farmers and discussed the issues. During the training program, lectures on importance of water for agriculture, various methods of groundwater recharge, Modern water use efficient irrigation methods, use of poor quality of water for agriculture and its effects on soils, Importance of soil and water sample collection and its standard methodsfor quality analysis, packages of agronomical and water management practices for the profitable cultivations of the sugarcane crop, applications of plastics in water management, cultivation in net house and green house. The lengthy and through discussions was held among subject experts and farmers.  Farmers were also guided on the irrigation scheduling of sprinkler irrigation, its maintenance and storage.
