As a part of activities to be conducted under the Krushi Vikas Varsh (2014-15), a Special veterinary clinical camp was organized by College of Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry, JAU, Junagadh in collaboration with the Karuna Foundation Trust, Rajkot on 6th July, 2014 being the World Zoonoses Day. Honorable Agricultural Minister of the State Shri Govindbhai Patel, Former Mayer – Shri Dhansukhbhai Bhanderi, Chairman of the standing committee Shri Nitinbhai Bhardwaj and Film Producer Shri Jivanbhai Raiththa were present on the occasion and graced the function. Seven staff members (Dr. P. H. Tank- Principal & Dean, Dr. J. S. Patel, Dr. S. H. Talekar, Dr. K. B. Vala, Dr. A. M. Patel, Dr. B. R. Mathpati, Dr. A. R. Bhadaniya) and a P. G. Student Dr. Padheriya from clinical departments were actively involved in the camp. Total 184 animals of different species of animals with different ailments were treated in the camp. Bajrigar, Parrot, Peacock-birds, Tortoise, Albino rat, Rabbit, Hen, Dog, Cat and cow were the species among different species. Among different species, maximum number of dogs (167) received the treatment and vaccination. Among different ailments, eye problems (25), Skin problems (25), Teeth problem (23), General treatment (105) and surgical intervention (6) (Surgery-14, Gynaecology-21 and Medicine-10) were treated. Different species of animals of Rajkot and surrounding villages got specialized treatment from the expert staff members of the College.
