Students Counseling & Placement Cell
The Student Counselling and Placement Cell (SCPC) of the College of Horticulture JAU, Junagadh is working since 2017. The mission of the placement cell is to advance the prospects of UG and PG students of the College in acquiring requisite knowledge, skill, attitude and overall personality development for advancement of their career with an overarching goal of achieving 100 per cent placement of the students in tune with their interest and orientation.
The placement cell is proactive in establishing liaison between the students and the recruiting agencies at the college level. Besides, the advancement of subject knowledge, general knowledge and personality development of the students is also ensured and special efforts are put in place for preparing students towards various competitive examinations. The SCPC has a library with books useful for the preparation of all types of competitive examinations. The students are regularly guided on the preparation for higher studies through JRF and SRF for B. Sc. (Horti) and M. Sc. (Horti.) students, respectively and due exposure is also given on various examination for the students interested in pursuing higher studies abroad. Guidance is also provided for preparation of innovative projects, participation in hackathon and other competitive events, and preparation for ARS/NET exams conducted by different agencies such as UGC/ASRB/CSIR.
In addition, guest lectures by experts from different faculties/ subjects are also arranged every year for the UG and PG students alike to update their domain knowledge. Mock interviews, personality development classes, quiz competition, awareness about passport/ visa, etc. are also organized from time to time leading to overall development of the students.
In this regard Student Counselling and Placement Cell (SCPC), College of Horticulture, J. A. U, Junagadh plays a vital role in the overall development of the UG and PG students.
Milestones:
Every year the students of this College get selected by government and semi goverment sector like, Dept. of Agriculture, Dept. of Horticulture, Dept. of Forest, SAUs and other institutes, GSFC, public and private banks, etc.

Many students have joined private industrial sectors such as fertilizer & pesticides companies, seed companies, nationalized bank, landscaping & various nurseries
-
A majority of students opt for pursuing higher studies and many have also been successful in getting selected for JRF/SRF, INSPIRE, SHODH and other scholarship opportunities.

Students have started their own business/entrepreneur in Horticulture based industries and settled well with good reputation.

Recently one graduate of the college was selected in IDBI (Bank) with a good annual package and ten students are appearing in reliance interview out of them two students are selected in reliance industries at Jamnagar
-
Recently 11 students of College of Horticulture are selected as a Horticulture Officer in Government of Gujarat during the year 2021.

Placement :
-
The placement status of the students in the academic year 2020-21 is furnished below. It could be ascertained that the students are getting placed through both on-campus and off-campus placements. During this year total UG- 42 students was passed out from the COH. Among them 24 students have got the admission in post graduate studies in different SAU of Gujarat. Similarly, 5 students were got job in various private industries and 14 students interested in preparing for various competitive examinations including public service commissions, banking, etc.
List of B.Sc.(Hons.) Horticulture students qualified JRF Examination
Special classes (e.g., JRF / SRF/ NET classes) were arranged by faculties of the college from time to time for personality development of UG and PG students including those belonging to weaker sections. During 2021-22 the following 16 students of B.Sc. (Hons.) Horticulture have qualified ICAR-JRF examination, 11 students are qualified in ASRB-NET examination and 4 students are qualified in ARS examination.
